Speed… It’s one of the most intense sensations known to man and is something that humans have chased for thousands of years. Speed prompts a primal and instinctual reaction in humans that is not only intimidating but exceptionally addictive. The sudden boost of adrenaline, the peerless concentration, the struggle for those extra miles per hour… just the thought of going quickly is enough to elicit excitement.
The pursuit of speed has sculpted the world that we live in and there is one arena in which this is not only prevalent but completely dominant. We are, of course, talking about racing, and more specifically car racing!
Tag Heuer and Racing
Drivers such as Senna, Hamilton and Button are synonymous with the human pursuit of speed and have throughout time redefined what we know as fast. This drive to go faster isn’t the only thing that these legends have in common, though, and their demand for excellence extends away from the race track. As well as being Formula One champions, each of these drivers has also sported a watch from none other than TAG Heuer.

TAG Heuer at the Goodwood Festival of Speed
Started in 1993 by Lord March in order to bring motor racing back to the Goodwood estate, the festival of speed has grown continually since. This year, it is returning from 25th-28th of June and bringing not only several new cars, but also several new watches with it. As official timing partners of the festival, TAG Heuer are set to release 5 new watches, including a brand new, limited edition chronograph.
Limited Edition Chronograph
Released to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the partnership between McLaren and TAG Heuer, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 42mm McLaren Special Edition watch has some incredible features. Most prominent is the distinctive “Rocket Red” colour scheme on both the strap and bezel. The watch’s resolutely sporty look is aided by the tachometer function as well as a classic quartz chronograph movement, accurate to within 1/10th of a second.
As well as this incredible chronograph, TAG Heuer will be adding four new models to their Ayrton Senna collection at Goodwood. Pay a visit to their pavilion and you will also find the Brazilian F1 champion’s famous McLaren MP4-4 on display for visitors to enjoy.
