Big changes are afoot here at Banks Lyon; if you have been in the store recently, you may have already seen some of them. Over the next fortnight, however, they’re going to be rather more noticeable.
From next Monday, the 21st September, until the 4th October, our Church Street store will be closing to allow us to complete our refurbishments. Come the 5th October, we’ll be able to welcome you to our fantastic new-look store, just in time for our 30th anniversary celebrations.
Recent visitors will already have seen the improvements to parts of our store, as we began work back in August on the side rooms. These areas have already become brighter, with improved lighting and elegant feature wallpaper that beautifully sets off the new displays so you can see our pieces at their best.
This stage brings some of the same improvements to the centre part of the store, alongside some more dramatic structural changes. We’re changing the main windows, opening them up and lowering the sills to give you a clearer view of our product displays. The ceilings will be raised, and our new brighter, whiter lighting will be complemented by a stunning chandelier.
Many of the changes we’re making are designed to make the process of shopping with us entirely more enjoyable. We’re bringing in a number of seating areas, so that you can sit down with one of our friendly advisors and take your time choosing the perfect piece for you, and we’re adding iPad connectivity so that we can complete the whole transaction for you in one place. (Of course, if you’re just popping in to get a watch strap replaced we won’t insist you sit down, but we think you’ll rather like having the option.)
Behind the scenes, there are further changes that you won’t necessarily see, but you’re sure to benefit from. We’re streamlining and optimising the office space to make all our processes smoother. Fans of Bob’s Video Blogs may also spot a difference – he’ll soon have his own dedicated studio from which to share his favourite pieces with you.
Whilst most of the store will boast a streamlined, modern and luxurious look, we’ve also set aside a special area with a more traditional feel; with wood panelling, Chesterfield sofas and a bar serving locally produced beverages, you’ll be able to enjoy the air of a traditional gentleman’s club. Serving as a centrepiece for this area – and uniquely fitting, since the traditional gift for the 30th anniversary is the pearl – is a model of the Black Pearl, the pirate ship seen in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean series.
