The OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra “Golf”

To celebrate Omega’s expanded presence in the world of golf they have produced the new Seamaster Aqua Terra “Golf”. With distinctive green elements on its dial, the watch sets itself apart from the other watches in the Aqua Terra Range. The watch is a powerful symbol of the brands commitment to helping grow the game around the world.

Featuring a 41.50mm brushed and polished stainless steel case and a polished bezel the watch retains the vertical stripe on the dial that defines Omega’s popular Aqua Terra Range, however, the green highlights on the dial – the ‘Seamaster’ name, the central second hand tip and the numbers on the minute track – symbolise the verdant golfing greens where the game’s great events are contested.

The Aqua Terra “Golf” is powered by the Omega Co-Axial calibre 8500, the movement that, when it was first introduced in 2007, signalled a revolution in mechanical watch making. Equipped with the first practical new watch escapement, designed by the late English watchmaker George Daniels, the Co-Axial movement delivers outstanding chronometric performance which will be maintained over a longer period of time than those with a traditional Swill lever escapement.

As a result of this there are longer service intervals and Omega guarantees the timepiece for four years.

The hour hand can also be changed independently of the minute and seconds allowing travellers to adjust the time when changing time zones. The Aqua Terra “Golf” also features Omega’s patented screw and pin stainless steel bracelet and is water resistant to 150 metres/15 bar/500 feet. The indexes are crafted from brushed and polished 18ct White Gold and there is a date window at 3 o’clock.

One of Omega’s ambassadors, Greg Norman, is one of the greatest golfers of all time. His nickname – The Great White Shark – recalls not only his Australian origins but the aggressive playing style which made him the world’s top ranked golfer for 331 weeks. Omega’s commitment to growing the game of golf around the world has led to four professional golfers as ambassadors; Davis Love III, Sergio Garcia, Michelle Wie and of course Greg Norman.

With Omega sponsoring some of golf’s most prestigious events including the European Masters, the Dubai Desert Classic and the World Cup of Golf, the brand really is involved with golf on almost every continent. Omega also serves as Official Timekeeper for events such as the PGA Championship, the Senior PGA Championship, the PGA Professional National Championship and the Ryder Cup, and with Golf making a return to the Olympics at Rio 2016 this really is an indication of the sports globalisation.
