The Ultimate in Water Resistance

Nearly all luxury watches sold today are water resistant to a certain degree. Water resistance to a depth of approximately one hundred metres has become something of a standard amongst watch manufacturers and it is unusual to a see watch from a reputable manufacturer with anything less.

The Rolex Sea Dweller

However, when it comes to water resistance nothing can quite match the Rolex Sea Dweller. This watch was originally designed to meet the demands of deep sea divers who required a watch capable of withstanding the high levels of pressure exerted beneath deep water. The original Sea Dwellers were water resistant to a depth of 600m, which was considered quite impressive when they were first made available in 1967. Today, the modern version of the Sea Dweller is capable of withstanding a depth of upto 3,900m, a significant improvement over the earliest examples.

The water resitance of the Rolex Sea Dweller and its ability to withstand pressure under water has been rigorously tested by Rolex to ensure reliability and functionality even when subjected to harsh underwater environments. As a result the Sea Dweller is the watch of choice for many professional divers, including a team from Comex S.A who set a diving depth record in 1988 whilst performing pipe line connection exercises.  When it comes to water resistance there are few watches that can match the Rolex Sea Dweller.

Although the Sea Dweller is designed for use by professional divers there is no reason why it cannot be worn casually or in other scenarios. Not only is the Rolex Sea Dweller famed for its ability to resist water but also for its classic Rolex aesthetics. Like any other Rolex watch the Sea Dweller is designed to be an eye catching, yet tasteful timepiece that can be worn in any situation.
