What do Ronnie Wood, a British Watchmaker and a ships clock have in common?

Well the answer is the Bremont B-1 Marine Clock….

Originally the British watch maker Bremont set out to create a modern interpretation of a historic time piece that dates back over 300 years; taking inspiration and guidance from ships chronometers of the past, the B-1 Marine Clock tells the time locally and at home, and the time of the trip up to 90 days. However, as if this  piece wasn’t unique enough the quintessentially British brand has teamed up with Ronnie Wood to produce a series of special “Art Clocks” hand painted by the rocker turned artist himself.

The clock has an impressive 40 day power reserve and a power reserve indicator can be found on the dial along with the GMT time and the date.

This modern take on a 300 year old clock uses a classic English-lever escapement and a twin fuse housed in a water-resistant case with the diameter of 30cms. It is entirely handmade in the UK, limited to very few timepieces and each one is hand made to order, taking around 4-6 months each.

The clock weighs approximately 16KG and is made with a hand-designed leather and walnut case or wall mount that is tailored to each customer’s specification. There is no other watch maker making a piece like this and it is entirely unique. Not only a piece of incredible beauty it is also a demonstration of exceptional clock-making skills.

The artist and musician Ronnie Wood is delighted to be working with the British brand and will be creating 14 unique “Art Clocks”. The Bremont B1 Marine Clock will form the canvas for Wood who will paint the dial and the internal case with images depicting stages of his life. This is a collaboration that presents art and clock-making in a way that is rarely seen.

Ronnie Wood established himself as a critically acclaimed artist and his work is highly sought after by collectors from all over the world. His work ranges from band members, to musicians he admired, to his self portraits; it is as natural to find him with a pencil as it is a guitar.

“I am so happy to be involved with Bremont on this exciting adventure. I feel there will be a magnificent opportunity through my art to show what has influenced me throughout my life which include my water heritage, my well documented life in music and of course my abiding passion for horses. All of these reflections will gather together to be seen in this most British tradition. I have always loved my timepieces and now I have the opportunity to thoroughly indulge myself with Bremont.”

“This is a unique collaboration where we have brought artesian clock-making and fine-art together to make a truly beautiful object. It is a huge privilege to be working with Ronnie, and he has brought a completely new prospective to our thinking about the clock, but also the ability to make each truly unique.”
