This 44.25 mm Speedmaster in stainless steel is the first OMEGA timepiece to include the Spirate™ System and celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Seamaster Aqua Terra >15,000 Gauss, a groundbreaking timepiece that revolutionised the fight against magnetic interference. The Speedmaster Super Racing continues this legacy with its Master Chronometer certification, ensuring it can withstand magnetic fields of up to 15,000 gauss. In an era where magnetism from everyday electronics can disrupt watches, this is both practical and innovative.
It has a black sandwich dial with honeycomb pattern, featuring the racing style minute-track which gives the watch its name. Framing the dial is a black ceramic bezel ring with tachymeter scale in yellow “grand feu” enamel.
This bold yellow shade is also used on the gradient chronograph hand, and yellow and black striped small seconds hand at 9 o’clock. The watch’s 60 minute/12 hour recorder is directly opposite at 3 o’clock, while at 6 o’clock there’s a date window in which the “10” appears in Speedmaster logo font, as a tribute to anniversary of the Seamaster Aqua Terra >15’000 GAUSS.
The diamond-polished and bevelled black arrowhead indexes are filled with yellow Super-LumiNova, which emits a yellow glow. This colour code extends to the Speedmaster and Super Racing wording on the dial.
Powering the watch is OMEGA’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer 9920, certified by METAS at the industry’s highest standard. The first movement in the world to include OMEGA’s patent-pending Spirate™ System.
The timepiece is delivered in a honeycomb pattern Speedmaster watch box in black with yellow stitching, which includes a recycled nylon NATO strap with black and yellow stripes.
The Spirate™ System is an innovative technology developed by OMEGA to enhance the precision and performance of their timepieces. Introduced in select models, it represents a significant advancement in watchmaking, particularly in achieving unprecedented levels of accuracy.
Key Features of the Spirate™ System:
Ultra-Fine Rate Adjustment – The Spirate™ System allows for incredibly precise adjustments to the watch’s movement, enabling accuracy to within 0/+2 seconds per day. This level of precision is one of the best in the industry for mechanical watches.
Silicon Balance Spring – At the core of the system is a specially engineered silicon balance spring. Silicon is highly resistant to environmental factors such as magnetic fields, temperature variations, and shocks, ensuring consistent performance over time.
Patented Mechanism – The system features a new, patented mechanism that allows watchmakers to adjust the tension and geometry of the balance spring with unparalleled accuracy. This adjustment ensures the optimal oscillation of the balance wheel, directly improving timekeeping precision.
Master Chronometer Certification – Watches equipped with the Spirate™ System undergo rigorous testing and certification by METAS (Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology) to meet the highest standards of precision, magnetic resistance, and overall performance.
The Spirate™ System reflects Omega’s commitment to innovation and excellence in horology. It pushes the boundaries of what is possible in mechanical timekeeping, offering collectors and enthusiasts a watch that combines cutting-edge technology with traditional craftsmanship.
In the context of the Omega Speedmaster Super Racing Co-Axial Master Chronometer, the Spirate™ System is a defining feature that sets this model apart, making it a desirable choice for those who value technical brilliance and reliability in a luxury timepiece.
