A Look into the New IWC Watches

As official stockists of IWC watches, we are always thrilled when the luxury watch brand announces they have a new range within their outstanding collections. Here at Banks Lyon, we are at the forefront of these new additions and are always excited to introduce them to our customers both online and in our Lancaster and Kendal showrooms.

So, today we are looking at the new watches from some of IWC’s most popular collections, Pilot and Portugieser. IWC have recently added some new models to these existing ranges that fit into the dynamics of their respective set but stand out as fresh and exciting in their own right. Let us take a look and help you find the latest timepiece to add to your collection.

IWC Pilot Watches

The IWC Pilot’s watch was initially introduced in the 1930s to withstand severe temperature fluctuations with its anti-magnetic properties; however, there have been many changes and upgrades since the collection’s early days.

To begin with, IWC pioneered the Pilot range to celebrate its aviation history, with each timepiece in the collection symbolising global Aircraft and Air Forces and paying homage to the greats involved in these industries.

Each model in the Pilot collection has been specially designed to offer the best experience for those using their watch as a flying accompaniment. For example, they each have a conical crown, a nod to aviation history and the days when pilots needed to operate their watches wearing padded leather gloves. Similarly, there is a small triangle index at 12 o’clock, allowing the user to recognise the time quicker than other timepieces would allow.

The rich history can be seen through the impressive design of each watch in the Pilot collection, as well as the unrivalled functions of modern technology, providing the wearer with a truly unbeatable aviation timepiece. So, understandably, we are always thrilled when IWC announce new models.

This timepiece encapsulates the military history of IWC with its matte grey lightweight grade 5 titanium case and black dial, a common feature in observation watches. In addition, its minutes and seconds hands are white and positioned on the outer ring, whereas the hour hand is a sleek grey and printed smaller on the inner ring. This design choice is prevalent in aviation timepieces, making it easier for pilots to quickly read the time mid-flight.

This IWC Big Pilots Spitfire 43 watch is available from Banks Lyon for £8050 or just £67.08 per month with 0% finance.

IWC Portugieser Watches

The Portugieser family of IWC watches was initially introduced in the 1930s when two Portuguese men requested a chronometer made for the maritime industry. This inspired the minds behind IWC and led them to create one of the most iconic timepieces in watchmaking history. Portugieser watches were unusually large at the time yet have since been noted for the rise in popularity of more prominent faces.

Now, Portugieser watches are known for their creative edge and complex functionality, such as their celestial charts, moon phase displays, and annual calendar indicators. They are known for their innovative functions, with many of the watches in the Portugieser range paving the way for other luxury watch brands.

Each timepiece introduced into the collection is revolutionary, so understandably, we are thrilled to present two new additions to the IWC Portugieser range.
