Baselworld 2015: a Preview

The wait is almost over, and the world’s largest and most-respected watch and jewellery fair is upon us once again. Baselworld is the undisputed highlight in the Banks Lyon calendar, and must surely represent the same sort of landmark for any lover of luxury watches and jewellery. With all of the announcements set to begin rolling out tomorrow, we’ll doubtless be overwhelmed by all of the forthcoming watch and jewellery news. However, there’s a fair bit of information out there already, so by way of a build-up to the main event, what can we expect to be unveiled from the 19th March?

Omega

First there was the darkside of the moon, then black made the transition to grey, but the Speedmaster’s transformation will soon be complete due to the introduction of the stunning Omega Speedmaster White Side of the Moon watch. Completing Omega’s ‘trilogy’ of ceramic watches, this new arrival definitely upholds the high standards set by the other two timepieces in this range, and we’d be hard-pressed to decide upon our favourite. Why not look up the Darkside and Greyside of the Moon watches on our Omega Speedmaster page and let us know? It’s a hard choice to make.

Breitling

The Breitling website has been updated with a plethora of news stories only today, and just like we said, the amount of information is a little overpowering. So far, we have details about an overhaul of the Breitling Superocean family – in the form of the Superocean II – a new arrival to the Galactic collection named the Unitime SleekT, and even the possibility of connecting a Breitling chronograph to your smartphone. This latter development is especially interesting, and could potentially set up some fascinating duels with TAG Heuer, as they too have plans to conquer the ‘smartwatch’ market.

Bremont

Bremont has kept their cards fairly close to their chests this year, and in some ways that only makes their eventual releases even more exciting! We’ve already had advance warning about the Bremont Jaguar watches, which you can preview right here on our website, but we’d be surprised if those were the only chronometers from this popular British brand to look forward to. TAG Heuer

TAG Heuer has been extremely vocal about its Baselworld releases thus far, and it’s difficult to see what more they might have kept their silence about. From special edition watches that honour basketball player Jeremy Lin and TAG Heuer’s most recently-signed ambassador, Cara Delevingne, to freshly re-designed Carrera timepieces and what looks rather like the successor to last year’s revolutionary Monaco watch (the world’s first belt-driven tourbillion), TAG Heuer has plenty to offer.

Hopefully, that should be enough to whet your appetite, but don’t forget that the Banks Lyon team are going to be on hand throughout Baselworld 2015, offering you inside information and all the latest news from the prestigious fair itself. We’ll be keeping you consistently posted using our Twitter account, and be sure to keep on checking back over our blog in the coming days to read more about all of the most exciting announcements. It’s definitely going to be a very busy time!

If you have any further questions about which Baselworld releases we’re going to stock, be sure to contact us by calling 01524 38 48 58. We’ll be delighted to assist with any enquiry you might have.
