The Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards reward entrepreneurship in women around the globe; this year they have launched a new category of Middle East and North Africa. Previously the Awards for this region had been spread across all of Africa and Asia.

Bernard Fornas – President and CEO of Cartier – has said that creating an Award specifically for this area will “enable women entrepreneurs from these countries to truly stand out, as I am convinced they should”.  Traditionally, three finalists are selected from each geographical area to present their business plan at a prestigious event in France, resulting in fifteen entrepreneurs becoming finalists.  This new category will increase the number of finalists in the Cartier Awards to eighteen with the final six Laureates receiving a year of business coaching and $20,000 in business funding.

The Awards are modern and forward thinking, much like the brands behind them; the Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards for founded in 2006 by Cartier, Women’s Forum, McKinsey & Company and INSEAD business school. Although the Awards are available to any developing and successful business, the link with Cartier has encouraged upcoming designers, couture labels and jewellers to compete for an Award.

The Cartier brand lends a distinguished tone to these recently-founded Awards. With Cartier’s history dating back to 1847 and its development of modern classic time-pieces such as Cartier 21, Cartier is a fine example of timeless elegance. For the women competing in the Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards, the success of this company and the desirability of Cartier creations provide an inspiring tale of business success.
