Celebrating February with the Amethyst

February’s birthstone is a genuinely lovely choice, and we’re extremely excited to take a look at it in our latest blog, as we have some particularly special pieces in stock that make use of this vibrant gem. From our title, you’ll know that we are, of course, talking about the amethyst, and it’s fair to say that people across the ages have been entranced by this gorgeous gem. To the Romans and the Ancient Greeks, the amethyst was a stone that imbued its wearer with enhanced wit and alacrity, although the violet hue of this quartz stone is undoubtedly linked with royalty in the minds of most people. So it was in the Middle Ages, although another peculiar property of the amethyst was always said to be the power to shield the wearer from intoxication; an assertion with no factual basis!

Given the association of the amethyst with a balanced mind, it should come as no surprise to find that it also possessed strong connotations with regards to healing, so it certainly had no shortage of positive properties attributed to it. However, as a variant of quartz, amethyst is actually a relatively common gemstone, first being used as a decoration some 25,000 years ago in Neolithic France. The cause of the amethyst’s distinct colour is rather a mystery to science, but what is known is that the stone is very susceptible to heat. High temperatures will colour an amethyst with a brown, red or even yellow tint, perhaps even morphing it into a citrine gem. As we’ve mentioned, our scope of amethyst jewellery is very broad, so without further ado, here are some of our favourite examples…

Bronzallure Bead Chain Bracelet with Charms

We’ve not said too much about our recent acquired collection of Bronzallure jewellery up to date, so we’ll dwell upon this subject more in a forthcoming feature. However, this Bronzallure bead chain bracelet with charms is well-worth a preliminary glance, as not only is it a bargain at just £59, but the complementary combination of rose gold plating and natural amethysts is absolutely inspired too.

18 Carat White Gold 6.02 Carat Amethyst and Diamond Pendant

There are many different gemstone cuts, but the rounded form of this ‘trilliant’ cut 18ct white gold 6.02ct amethyst and diamond pendant is really quite special. Elongated to be easily visible during typical evening wear, the juxtaposition between the large hanging amethyst and the tiny 0.18ct brilliant cut diamonds is also perfectly judged. Priced at £1,485, this piece is in store for 36 monthly payments of £33 alongside a 20% deposit, with other 0% finance options offered to suit you as well.

18 Carat White Gold 3.42 Carat Amethyst and 0.85 Carat Diamond Ring

If a dress occasion is the reason for your interest in amethyst jewellery, then this 18ct white gold 3.42ct amethyst and 0.85ct diamond ring should really catch your attention. An opulent 18 carat white gold mount is swathed in pave set diamonds, but it’s the 3.43ct step cut amethyst at the centre of the ring that truly takes the breath away. Retailing at £1,495, or for 36 monthly instalments of £33.22 alongside a 20% deposit, this is one of the most unique dress rings you’ll ever see.

18 Carat Three Tone Gold Quartz, Amethyst, Topaz and Diamond Pendant

There’s no denying that amethysts are beautiful, but why not array them alongside other gemstones too? That’s exactly what this 18ct three tone gold quartz, amethyst, topaz and diamond pendant elects to do, combining an amethyst with a blue topaz – set in white gold – and a yellow quartz – enthroned in yellow gold – and the soft contrasts that this decision creates are ideally set off by any surrounding light. Boasting diamonds as well, this pendant remains fairly restrained, despite its splendour, and costs £1,665, retailing on finance for 36 monthly payments of £37 and a 20% deposit.

18 Carat Yellow Gold Amethyst and Diamond Dress Ring

We conclude with a one-of-a-kind piece that possibly won’t be to everyone’s tastes, yet we challenge you to think of another ring that could top this in term of sheer ‘wow’ factor. This 18ct yellow gold amethyst and diamond dress ring possesses perhaps the most richly coloured amethyst that we’ve ever set eyes on, and – even discounting the absolutely glorious diamond paving – the sensational yellow gold floral ‘leaf claw’ setting is something that you’ll never see replicated.

Retailing for £2,650, this spectacular ring is totally unique, but it by no means concludes our options for amethyst jewellery. You can find more examples in both our Bronzallure jewellery collection and, of course, among our amethyst gemstone rings, and if you’d like to make an enquiry, please feel free to contact us by calling 01524 38 48 58. Our friendly team will be happy to showcase our range.
