New Calibre De Cartier Diver Timepiece Nears Release

The end of 2013 saw a brand new Calibre De Cartier watch announced to a great deal of enthusiasm. Cartier is one of the premier luxury watch manufacturers in the world, and continues to excel in the horological world by virtue of their innovative and contemporary timepieces. In recent years, this legendary brand has greatly added to their distinguished portfolio by virtue of wristwatches such as the Cartier Caliber De Cartier Chronograph watch (pictured lower left) and the new Cartier Tank MC watches (pictured lower right), but one feat they had never previously attempted was the creation of a true divers’ watch. However, with the arrival of the Calibre De Cartier Diver imminently expected, that observation is about to be amended.

The Calibre De Cartier Diver has been realised with the same ambitious specifications as would be attached to a genuine ISO 6425 certified diving watch, and it was formally subjected to a variety of stern examinations to attain this status. Rather than taking any shortcuts, Cartier has comprehensively equipped this new timepiece with a unidirectional timing bezel, a dial of exemplary clarity, Superluminova enhanced night-time visibility, a durable diving style rubber strap and superb resistances to magnetism, shock, chemicals, water and pressure. An authentic diver’s watch in every sense of the word, Cartier has admirably resisted the temptation to plug a gap in their résumé with a less than ideal concept, and has instead designed a potential classic for the ages.

However, Cartier has always possessed especially fine tuned instincts with regards to the desire of their target audience, and to that end the new Calibre De Cartier Diver is breathtakingly balanced for daily usage. The wristwatch is commendably restrained, slim and sleek when compared to some of its competitors in the world of diving watches, allowing it to be comfortably worn away from the watery realm it is primarily intended for. Much of the 42 mm casing is brushed, but a substantial amount has been polished to a fine, almost ethereal sheen; and this in itself represents something a little different for a diving watch of this kind.

In a similar fashion, the Calibre De Cartier Diver plays host to the calibre 1904 MC mechanical movement. This consummate display of engineering excellence was introduced in 2010 as Cartier’s pioneering in-house movement, and it returns now within the Calibre De Cartier Diver thanks to a considerable degree of acclaim. This movement also brings a subsidiary second dial and accompanying date with it, which is another unusual adornment for a diver’s watch. The rotating bezel is dignified by a black ADLC coating, rather than a traditional polished metal or ceramic finish, allowing it to present an exceptional level of durability and scratch resistance.

In addition to avoiding the temptation to fashion a less than optimal diving piece, Cartier has also refused to conform purely to ‘accepted’ expectations; instead developing a groundbreaking hybrid of diving prowess and Parisian flair. Cartier occupies a distinct niche in the luxury watchmaking industry due to their expertise in the area of elegant dress watches, so the elite sporting aptitude of the new Calibre De Cartier Diver is all the more noteworthy. Fully waterproof to 300 metres, yet retaining all of the beloved aesthetical traits that are common to this venerated brand name, this timepiece is an exceptionally memorable companion for those who frequent the depths of the sea.

Scheduled for release in early 2014, two different variations of this exciting new Cartier timepiece are available for pre-order from Banks Lyon (as seen above). The Cartier Calibre De Cartier Stainless Steel Dive watch is the first of these offerings, and this classically styled timepiece can be advance ordered for 36 monthly payments of £126.67 and a 20% deposit. For an extra touch of lavish opulence, we also have the Cartier Calibre De Cartier 18ct Pink Gold Dive watch; a glimmering spectacle in black and gold that can be pre-ordered for 36 monthly payments of £431.11 alongside a 20% deposit. If you would like to request any further information about this forthcoming wristwatch, or would like to register your interest in any of our other Cartier watches, please call us on 01524 38 48 58 and we’ll be happy to discuss your requirements in more detail.
