With the weather (slowly but surely) getting better our thoughts turn to summer. And with that comes the ritual swapping over of the wardrobes – out with the boots and heavy jumpers and in with sandals and summer dresses. But what about accessories? With wrists not hidden away under long sleeves and gloves it’s time to get our watches out and really enjoy them.
We have selected some of the most stylish watches for the summer months but of course without compromising on the quality and precision. These are just as important to us ladies!
Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean White
Omega has long been renowned for being at the forefront of watch making and technology; developing the very first Co-Axial movement they really are a force to be reckoned with. Their watches are reliable, precise and stylish and the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m is no exception.
Slightly smaller than the Gents model this one is 37.5mm and sits comfortably on the more delicate wrist! This watch, however, does not compromise on quality and mechanics. The watch houses an Omega 8520 self-winding movement with Co-Axial Escapement for greater precision, stability and durability, the same movement that you will find in any of the larger models.
As well as being a great looking timepiece this watch also serves a great purpose. With just as many women enjoying adventure sports as men the OMEGA Planet Ocean watch has been developed in three sizes so that everyone can enjoy this watch. With a water resistance of 600m (2000 feet) and a helium escape valve this watch is perfect for any adventurer this summer.
It is available in a number of different variations including with or without diamonds and on a white strap or stainless steel bracelet.
Bremont 37mm Rose Gold
Known for their quintessentially British style, attention to detail and very ‘English’ ethos, Bremont Watch Company are fast becoming a force to be reckoned with in the watch industry. Started a mere ten years ago the company has grown from strength to strength and now offers a core range of watches that appeal to many a budding traveller or adventurer.
Lately they have added to their range the 37mm Solo and as the smallest member of the Bremont family this case size is a first for the brand. Inspired by pilots watches of the 1940’s this smaller version of the original 43mm case watch still encompasses all the features that Bremont is now famous for.
As with all the watches in the range the Bremont SOLO 37mm is housed in a stainless steel Trip Tick® three piece case that has been hardened in the UK to over 2000 Vickers making it over seven times more scratch resistant than normal watch grade steel. Perfect for those who are known to be a little clumsy when it comes to wearing a watch!
The SOLO 37mm is powered by a modified BE-36AE movement that has a 38 hour power reserve and a skeletonised decorated rotor. The dial also has a date window at 3 o’clock. It is also water resistant to 100 meters.
Although smaller than anything Bremont has ever produced before this mechanical chronometer appeals to those who may wish to wear something slightly smaller, and lighter one their wrist… but also it is perfect for us ladies! Especially with the different finishes available.
The SOLO-37 is available with a white dial in all stainless steel or with an 18ct Rose Gold top bezel. The watch also comes with a choice of applied silver or rose coloured indexes. There is also the option of a black dial with white indexes – a perfect match to the black dial 43mm watch so the perfect ‘his and hers’ choice! There is also a choice of coloured straps so you can customise your watch even more to your taste.
Breitling Galactic 36 (A3733053/A717/376A)
Next is our favourite Breitling for ladies – the Breitling Galactic 36. Breitling are long renowned for chunky watches for the Gents but this watch is completely the opposite. At a smaller 36mm this watch sits perfectly on the wrist without being too cumbersome – it is actually the watch of choice of our Shop Floor Manager Samantha.
The Breitling Galactic 36 encompasses the classic and elegant touches ladies desire with a mother of pearl diamond dot dial and diamond bezel. The bracelet is smooth and feels nice to wear with no unnecessary weight to it and the case does not stand too proud on the wrist.
Water resistant to 100m this watch can be worn at all times without worry – unless you’re planning on some deep sea diving and then we suggest going for the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean! Although a little bigger than the traditional ladies watches on the market this watch is perfect for those who wish to wear something a little bigger without going to the extremes of a gents watch.
The Galactic 36 still looks elegant even though it is a complicated and precise piece of engineering. Packed full of all the features we associate with Breitling – a COSC certified automatic movement, solid stainless steel bracelet, unidirectional bezel and lume on the hands and dial markers you really are getting style and quality in one without compromising on either.

TAG Heuer Ladies Aquaracer
At this year’s Basel Watch and Jewellery Fair TAG Heuer released their most stylish and luxurious Ladies Aquaracer to date. The latest models from the iconic Swiss watch brand feature the Lady 27mm Diamond Dial, Diamond Bezel timepiece that is the first in the collection that merges steel with the ever popular Rose Gold.
This new TAG Heuer Aquaracer Lady watch features a rose gold fixed bezel with the signature six diving studs that features across the Aquaracer range. The Mother of Pearl dial is in two parts; the very centre features subtle waves that are reminiscent of ocean waves whereas the outer dial is a pearlescent white that really shimmers in the light.
The ‘H-link’ bracelet is made from brushed steel outer links and a rose gold central link that is interspersed with a polished steel link. This new look for the bracelet is classic and feminine; the mixture of brushed and polished finished adds texture and character to the bracelet that sits comfortably on the wrist.
This particular model features 47 Top Wesselton diamonds on the dial and bezel but it is possible to choose a plainer option should you desire.
Although these watches are quartz powered there is the option to choose a new automatic option. The Calibre 5 is the first automatic movement to feature in a Lady Aquaracer and can be viewed through the scratch resistant sapphire open case back.
