TAG Heuer and Formula E

Formula 1 has a long and proud history of being associated with luxury watch brand names, but the world of motor-racing as a whole has proved to be a similarly consistent partner for the world of ocular horology. For TAG Heuer, the opportunity to forge an alliance with an exciting new motorsport event is always a welcome one, and that’s exactly why they recently embraced the opportunity to serve as a founding partner and the Official Timekeeper for Formula E, an innovative new class of motor racing that is standing upon the cusp of its inaugural championship season.

Many people are still relatively unfamiliar with the concept of Formula E, yet the notion is actually very simple. Intended to be the premium competition for single-seat electric-power sports cars, this racing series was only conceived in 2012, so TAG Heuer have been exceptionally forward-thinking in associating their name with this future-focussed racing spectacle at such an early date. Joining together at the end of August in the JE Cultura Conference Centre in Beijing – the location that will host the first race of the season – the TAG Heuer and Formula E alliance was cemented in an electric atmosphere, and doubtless this relationship will continue for years to come as well.

The opening of the Formula E season is scheduled for September 13th, and already this burgeoning sport has attracted 10 professional teams and as many as 20 globally renowned drivers, so the competition is liable to be fierce over the course of the 10 race season, when the winner will be crowned after the final race in London. Of course, as the Official Timekeeper for the event, TAG Heuer will have a substantial responsibility to ensure the smooth operation of each sporting contest, but, as is their custom, they have also dedicated a timepiece to the event as well. The watch in question is a TAG Heuer Carrera calibre 1887 – a member of the same range that was recently seen upon the wrists of Jenson Button and Cristiano Ronaldo – and we’re delighted to say that the near-double of the chosen Formula E timepiece is a part of the stock here at Banks Lyon Jewellers (see right).

The calibre 1887 movement is one of TAG Heuer’s finest creations; a Swiss-made automatic calibre device that boasts 39 rubies, a rapid date correction and a power reserve of 50 hours (or 40 hours when the chronograph function is consistently in use). The exterior of this Carrera 1887 is also equally elaborate, with a stylish 43 mm stainless steel case that is complemented by a sleek black dial. Rose gold numerals reside upon this dark backdrop to provide a breathtaking touch of class, and the reliability of the timepiece is also assured by a 2 year warranty and a 30 metre water resistance; as if the Carrera 1887 moniker was not enough to guarantee performance.

Effortlessly elegant and superbly refined – ideal for the serious gentleman of business – our TAG Heuer Carrera 1887 Heritage watch is available on 0% finance for £4,795, and you can also purchase the timepiece in 36 monthly instalments of £106.56, with other payment options on offer as well if you so choose, and you’ll not find a closer match for the Formula E endorsed Carrera model anywhere else. To find out more about this timepiece, or to place an enquiry about any of our other TAG Heuer watches, please don’t hesitate to contact our professional team now by calling 01524 38 48 58 or emailing [email protected], and we’ll only be too happy to answer all of your queries.
