The 35th America’s Cup – Watches You Need to Be Aware Of

The 35th Louis Vuitton America’s Cup sailing event won’t really get into full swing until 2017, however there have already been a few preliminary events and we expect to see a fair few more over the next couple of years, before the race begins in earnest. This means that it isn’t too soon to get excited – and although the foiling, wingsailed catamarans that the sailors will be using are certainly worth some attention, as of course are the sailors themselves, it’s inevitably the watches that are really getting our hearts pounding.

A couple of our favourite watch manufacturers have already announced their intentions to partner with the competition or sponsor teams, the most notable of these perhaps being Bremont. Since 1851, the America’s Cup has had no official timing partner, but all that changes this year, with Bremont winning the partnership and expressing the intention of bringing a ‘philosophy of immense precision, reliability and durability to the race’.

With these announcements come a whole series of beautiful watches: the ACI and ACII, and the ORACLE I and ORACLE II from Bremont, as well as the Seamaster Diver 300M ETNZ from Omega, who will be sponsoring Emirates Team New Zealand – a team which they have worked with since 1995. Bremont’s offerings are a range of delightfully classic timepieces, highlighting the long tradition of the event itself, with the ORACLE I standing out from the rest of the collection thanks to its striking red strap.

The Seamaster Fiver 300M ETNZ is a rather sportier chronometer, again featuring a stylish red strap as well as a titanium dial for increased endurance. With a ribbed strap which has been specifically designed to mimic the rippling sails of a boat, this is certainly a watch which has been designed to appeal to the sailor’s eye.

If you wish to capture some of the exhilaration of sailing with your own watch then you can’t do much better than the Omega Seamaster Regatta Co-Axial Chronograph Watch, a work of true expert craftsmanship, featuring stunning yellow detailing as well as a solid stainless steel strap. This watch is currently available for £3,800, or on a 36 month 0% finance plan of £84.44 per month.

When it comes to Bremont, we simply have to highlight the astounding Limited Edition HMS Victory Watch. At £11,995.00 it is a true collector’s item, with only 250 being made and each featuring original parts from the HMS Victory itself – a copper decking nail melted and incorporated into the case barrel, and a section of original English oak decking featured as an inlay. Nelson’s famous seal is etched into the back of the case, pulling the design together.

Although a relatively young brand, Bremont have certainly been making a splash when it comes to the ambition and expertise put into every single watch they create. The Limited Edition HMS Victory Watch demonstrates this absolutely, as does their exciting new involvement with the 35th Louis Vuitton America’s Cup. Please feel free to browse our full collection of Bremont watches, and if you would like further details don’t hesitate to contact us online or at 01524 38 48 58.
