The Astronomer’s Choice: Omega Constellation

Today marks a huge event for star-gazers across the Northern hemisphere: the peak of the annual Perseid meteor shower. For those of us who choose to turn our eyes or our telescopes to the skies tonight, there should be a dazzling display of meteors tumbling through the sky, with predictions suggesting that up to 100 pieces of the Swift-Tuttle comet could be visible every hour.

Although the shower lasts from July 17th until August 24th, it’s only tonight which will see such breathtaking quantities of meteors, and the event will also be coinciding with a new moon – which means that viewing conditions will be better than they have been in almost a decade.

In light of this astronomical spectacle, we have been thinking about which watch is the superior choice for those of us who find inspiration amongst the stars, and without a shadow of a doubt it has to be the Constellation range from Omega.

As a world famous line of watches which is a key part of the Omega brand, you may already know a little bit about the Constellation collection; we also featured it in our recent blog about Omega’s Mumbai Gala. Today, however, we’d like to look a little closer at two of the splendid feminine watches that make this range so spectacular.

The Constellation Star

A tasteful smattering of 18 carat white gold stars marks this watch apart from all its rivals, striking an incredible contrast against the deep, dark blue. For a final flourish, the bezel is lined with a sparkling ring of diamonds. You will also find the polished ‘griffes’, also known as the ‘claws’, at the edge of the dial and precision quartz movement for increased accuracy and smooth movement.

There’s no better way to demonstrate your passion for everything that rests beyond the earth, whether you prefer to spend your time tracking the movement of the planets or mapping out the wonderful constellations which have mystified man for as long as we’ve been here.

The Omega Constellation Star watch is currently available at a price of £5,460.00, or on a 36 month 0% finance plan at a rate of £121.33 per month.

The Constellation Diamond

The women’s constellation diamond watch twinkles as brightly as the night sky, with a beautiful display of diamonds in a snow-set pattern on the 18 carat red gold bezel, and a further 11 diamonds marking the indexes. Although the astronomical theme isn’t quite as pronounced as in its ‘star’ counterpart, there are still plenty of details which keep it subtly present – such as the supernova design which is set into the rich, blue dial and, of course, the striking star emblem.

You can purchase the Omega Constellation Diamond Watch for £5,620.00, or on a 36 month 0% finance plan of £126.89 per month.

To get the best view of tonight’s incredible meteor shower you’ll need to wait until around 11PM, and preferably be at-least 30 minutes away from any major city; we’re sure that such a rare and spectacular event will be worth the late night! While you’re waiting, you can browse our full range of Omega watches at our website; to find out any more details or enquire about making a purchase please don’t hesitate to contact us, online or at 01524 38 48 58.
