The Bremont Boeing Ti-GMT

Bremont have always been a brand with a strong aviation link; founders Nick and Giles English are themselves pilots, and they initially set out to make watches durable enough to withstand the pressures of the aviator lifestyle.

Their collaboration with Boeing, announced almost a year and a half ago, and unveiled at last year’s Baselworld, both solidifies their aviation connections and represents the ideal combination of technological expertise and traditional craftsmanship.

This exquisite range has proven popular, and as such it was no surprise to see the range further extended at this year’s Baselworld back in March. The original range, the Model 1 and Model 247, are now complemented by counterparts made from aviation grade titanium, with added GMT functionality.

With these new Bremont Boeing Ti-GMT watches expected to ship imminently, this is an excellent opportunity to take a deeper look at these stunning and unique timepieces.

Both are made using Boeing aviation-grade Ti 6-4 titanium, a material which is significantly stronger than commercial titanium. Although used widely in both airframes and engine components, it has not previously been used in watch manufacture.

“We’ve never built a watch from this kind of titanium before.

But it seemed to work out okay on the F/A-18 Super Hornet.”

This represents the first time that Bremont have offered lightweight aviation-grade titanium cases on any of its core range pieces, but it is not the only innovation presented by these timepieces. Where the original Bremont Boeing watches incorporated a sapphire bezel, the new GMT models feature an anthracite ceramic bezel; the first time Bremont has used ceramic in any timepiece to date.

Both of these chronometers take forward Bremont’s previous successes with GMT functionality, featuring a very clear GMT hand for ease of use, responding to a demand led by the flying fraternity. The black (Model 1) or dark grey (Model 247) base dials provide a contrast to the SuperLumiNova® hands and applied indexes, providing clarity and superb ease of use.

The black-faced Bremont Boeing Model 1 Ti-GMT watch provides a superbly clean design, with hour, minute, second and 24hr GMT hands and the date shown at the 4.5hr mark. Meanwhile, the Bremont Boeing Model 247 Ti-GMT watch with its dark grey face provides further functionality with chronograph counters for seconds, 30 minutes and 12 hours.

Boeing’s signature “tick” is found at the end of the centre seconds hand on the Model 1, and on the chronograph seconds hands on the Model 247.

Both pieces make use of Bremont’s unique Trip-Tick® case, with the beautifully finished automatic movements suspended in steel and rubber anti-shock mounts decorated in Boeing blue, displayed in the stylish exhibition crystal case backs.

The Bremont Boeing 247 Ti-GMT is expected to begin shipping at the end of August, and the Model 1 Ti-GMT at the end of September.
