Unveiled: The Bremont ALT1-C/PW Classic Polished Chronograph

Despite the fact that they’ve only been in operation since 2002, Bremont watches are every bit as traditional and elegant as their British heritage suggests. Eschewing the more colourful and brash aesthetics of some of their contemporaries, Bremont have always focussed on designing and creating timeless watches that lend themselves both to a bygone era and modern fashion alike.

Now, they’ve released the latest addition to their ever-expanding core collection, introducing us all to the stylish Bremont ALT1-C/PW. After the incredible success of the ALT1-C Rose Gold, Bremont has decided that their new ALT1-C/PW classic polished chronograph deserves a place alongside it. We couldn’t agree more.

Furthering the sense of quintessential Britishness which imbues all of their timepieces, the ALT1-C/PW takes inspiration from the design of its predecessor; the stunning limited edition Bremont HMS Victory watch. That particular timepiece incorporated original oak timber and copper sourced directly from Nelson’s flagship vessel, and while the ALT1-C/PW doesn’t have this particular feature, you can see at first glance just how much of an influence the former has had on the latter.

The Bremont ALT1-C/PW features a very traditional design, but that’s hardly a drawback when it’s so adroitly executed. The rounded edges of the etched metal dial frame an off-white face which depicts classic numerals, and the treated steel hands gracefully taper at each end. At the 6H mark is the date, flanked above by small chronograph counters for keeping both seconds and 30 minute intervals. As you’d expect from such a high-quality timepiece, this Bremont is water resistant to 100m, and is backed by a sharp black alligator strap for additional appeal.

The movement itself is beautifully crafted, and is visible through the transparent stainless steel rear casing. This movement comes with a 28-jewelled calibre 13 ¼” BE-50AE automatic, a Glucydur balance, an Anachron balance spring and a 42-hour power reserve. Look closely at the back of this horological marvel and you’ll see that the rotor, too, is decorated with the Bremont name.

Upon further inspection, the 43mm case has been specially treated with a hardened coating. This signature treatment retains the watch’s brilliantly polished finish, while also offering a more robust quality, high-impact fatigue resistance and extra toughness. As such, you can expect to enjoy a great many years of wear out of the ALT1-C/PW. Surprisingly, for a coating that’s so prevalent in the aerospace industry, it’s the first time that Bremont has applied it to a polished case, making this timepiece truly unique within their portfolio.

The Bremont ALT1-C/PW will be available as of November this year, as the first non-limited edition polished steel watch in this family. As such, limited numbers of this glorious chronograph will be released each year. Here at Banks Lyon, we stock a wide range of Bremont watches, including the Bremont ALT1 (see above) and Bremont Limited Edition collections.
